Welcome to Teaching Tech
Learn more about our program's background and goals.

Our Mission
We originally founded Teaching Tech as a St. John’s School program designed to provide technological aid to Houston seniors while simultaneously fostering interactions between students and community members. The program was inspired by our experiences assisting relatives with their tech questions, as well as by our shared interest in technology and computer science.
Today, we work with several local community centers and retirement communities to offer group sessions and individual appointments, during which we help participants with their technological inquiries and issues. In addition, Teaching Tech creates and supplies learning resources, such as flashcards, to facilitate technological learning in and outside of our tech support classes.
As individuals who have grown up in the digital age, constantly immersed in online innovation, we understand the importance and utility of technology and look forward to sharing our experience and knowledge with our community.
Our Expertise
Technologically Trained
Digitally Proficient Students of Computer Science
In addition to being members of a digitally immersed generation born into a period of online ubiquity, we are also trained in computer science, giving us an even more comprehensive understanding of current technologies and helping us to better address any tech query that comes our way.
Not only has our mutual computer science background equipped us with a greater digital skillset, but it also has demonstrated to us the importance of technology and its ever-increasing relevance in our present world. For these reasons, we are prepared and excited to lead Teaching Tech.
Community Leaders
Experienced in Leadership and Service
Our leadership team has significant experience serving in our St. John's School and Houston communities. From working on our school's community service board and leading clubs on campus to volunteering at school and local service projects, our team is extremely involved in the world around us. Teaching Tech is the manifestation of our shared passion for leadership and community outreach. Together, we are proud to present our organization to the Houston area.

Teaching Tech Today

Today, Teaching Tech has expanded to work with multiple different community organizations and to offer several different programs.
This past year we have offered monthly technology lessons and information sessions at Belmont Village Senior Living West University, in which we answered individual questions, presented videos and slideshows, and instructed on cybersecurity and other pressing technological topics.
Additionally, we currently offer monthly group technology help sessions at the West University Senior Center, in which we answer personal inquiries in a small-group setting with low student-helper ratios. We also presently provide individual help appointments for the senior center's patrons, meeting with interested parties for personalized assistance on a flexible schedule.
This fall, we started monthly sessions at the Church of St. John the Divine to assist their patrons with technological skills and challenges.
We recently partnered with the River Oaks Garden Club, as well, and we hope to grow our Teaching Tech offerings over the next year to continue serving our community as best possible.
